Radiologist Assistant Major

This major is a program that prepares individuals, under the supervision of a physician, to perform patient assessment, patient management, selected imaging procedures and to make initial observations of diagnostic images.

Includes instruction in radiologic procedures and techniques, cross sectional anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, patient assessment, patient care and management, and radiation biology.

Radiologist Assistants performs x-rays and other diagnostic imaging examinations on patients. These individuals operate magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners to create diagnostic images.

Typically, an earned associate degree is required to enter this career area.  However, a certificate is sometimes sufficient with on-the-job training.  Most states require license and/or certification.
