Nurse Midwife/Nursing Midwifery Major

This major is a program that prepares registered nurses to independently deliver babies and treat mothers in the prenatal, delivery, and post-delivery periods.

Includes instruction in pre-delivery screening, physician referral, and the care of infants during the delivery and immediate post-delivery phases.

If you work as a Nurse Midwife, it is your job to provide prenatal care and childbirth assistance.

Most nurses working in midwifery have a master's degree.  As well, some states require midwives to have an occupational license.
