This major is a program of study that prepares individuals to assume roles as health/wellness professionals in private business and industry, community organizations, and health care settings.

Includes instruction in personal health, community health and welfare, nutrition, epidemiology, disease prevention, fitness and exercise, and health behaviors.

What can you do with a major/degree in Health and Wellness, General Major?

In the Health and Wellness, General major, students learn to educate people about behaviors that promote wellness. They develop and implement strategies to improve the health of individuals and communities. They also develop and implement strategies to improve the health of individuals and communities. They collect data and discuss health concerns with members of specific populations or communities.  Job titles span a wide range.  Examples:  group fitness instructor, wellness coach, life coach, and leisure manager.

Most people in the Health and Wellness field have an associate degree.  Programs are available from community colleges, vocational schools, technical schools, and universities and take about 2 years to complete. These programs usually lead to a diploma.  Some programs may have classroom and laboratory portions that include lessons in medical terminology and communication skills.
