Creative Writing Major

A program that focuses on the process and techniques of original composition in various literary forms such as the short story, poetry, the novel, and others.

Includes instruction in technical and editorial skills, criticism, and the marketing of finished manuscripts.

What can you do with a major/degree in Creative Writing?

If it’s your ambition to have a career in writing, your future is bright and job prospects are expected to grow over the next 10 years (Bureau of Labor Statistics).  With an associate or bachelor’s degree in this major, individuals may choose from a variety of career options.  Opportunities include (but are not limited to) speech writer, play writer, TV or movie script writer, essayist, fiction writer, and memoirist.
