Engineering Design Major

An Engineering Design major/degree is an instructional program that prepares individuals to apply mathematical and scientific principles to engineering problems involving marrying or coordinating multiple dissimilar systems to carry out single functions or achieve common purposes, organizing system components for maximum flexibility and utility, planning engineering projects involving multiple tasks and design solutions, planning design testing and evaluation procedures, resolving specification and requirement conflicts, and choosing among competing theoretical solutions.

May include instruction in math courses (such as geometry), machine processes, CAD, and building design and well as a variety of courses found in the mechanical, civil, and software engineering programs.

What can you do with a major/degree in Engineering Design?

With a degree in this program, you may find yourself spending your time designing complex products, machinery, equipment, and mechanical systems for all kinds of purposes.

Trade Associations and Professional Organizations in Engineering Design

Professional associations are groups of specialists dedicated to topics in particular fields. Professional associations provide a wealth of online resources, some of which are geared specifically towards students. These organizations typically also host conferences and events, providing great opportunities for learning and networking across your field of interest.
