Civil Engineering Technology/Technician Major

A major/degree in Civil Engineering Technology/Technician is a program that prepares individuals to apply basic engineering principles and technical skills in support of civil engineers engaged in designing and executing public works projects such as highways, dams, bridges, tunnels, and other facilities.

Includes instruction in site analysis, structural testing procedures, field and laboratory testing procedures, plan and specification preparation, test equipment operation and maintenance, and report preparation.

What can you do with a major/degree in Civil Engineering Technology/Technician?

As a civil engineer technologist or technician, you will work under the supervision of a licensed civil engineer.  You may be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of society’s infrastructure.  Your tasks will also likely include supporting and ensuring safe construction, operation, and maintenance of structures (roads, bridges, buildings, dams).
